Premier League legend, Rio Ferdinand has said that he does not see Chelsea winning the Champions League this season.
The Blues made it a back to back win in their last two games after a Champions League victory against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Graham Potter’s side defeated the German side 2-0 at Stamford Bridge and booked their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition, with Havertz netting the winner from the penalty spot after Raheem Sterling had put the Blues ahead earlier in the game.
The west London side will play Leicester City, Everton, Aston Villa and Liverpool in their next matches as they look to climb the table.
And Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United star, feels that the Blues should be concerned in rebuilding their confidence by winning games week after week and not be preoccupied with thoughts of winning the Champions League at this point.
“I can’t put them anywhere near winning the Champions League right now. The difference is the confidence the result would bring to the team right now,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“But we see again this weekend you gotta take it game by game. Look to this weekend and take the game out of the way. Another clean sheet, maybe another three points then they could keep growing that confidence,” he added.
