Was Neymar doomed from the start?! Shocking new report reveals Brazilian had ankle stress fracture when PSG signed him from Barcelona in world-record 2017 transfer

Neymar’s torrid injury history at Paris Saint-Germain could have been predicted, as he reportedly arrived in 2017 with an ankle stress fracture.

The brazilian signed from Barcelona for a record €222 million (£193m/$242m) fee that is yet to be beaten. Despite numerous domestic triumphs, Neymar’s spell in the French capital is largely considered an underwhelming one, not least for his failure to bring them European success.

However, a major part of this disappointment was the forward’s dire run with injuries – which started right from his arrival in Paris.A shocking new report from L’Equipe suggests that the Brazil international arrived at the Parc des Princes with an ankle stress fracture, specifically to the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. Neymar then went on to suffer that exact same fracture twice while contracted by PSG – in February 2018 and January 2019 – before having to undergo ankle surgery last March following an issue during the 2022 World Cup.
