Newcastle United considering making a move for former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea after losing Nick Pope to long-term injury.
Nick Pope fell awkwardly during Newcastle United’s Premier League clash against Manchester United on Saturday and dislocated his shoulder in the process. While the result of a scan on his injury is awaited, the goalkeeper is likely to be ruled out of action for up to five months, according to journalist Mike McGrath.
With Pope potentially out for almost the rest of the season, the Magpies are considering making a move for ex-Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, according to the SKY BLAST TV
The Spaniard has been without a club since he left the Red Devils in the summer after his contract expired. He was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the last transfer window with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr reportedly showing interest in him. Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami too were rumoured to be interest but neither move materialised.
Amid a possibility of returning to the Premier League, De Gea also has an offer from Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.
